i’m such a jealous friend

yup, I am. But it just ends there. Who cares anyway? As if the friend would do something about it. Knowing my friend, he’ll just probably laugh about it, or even rub it in more to annoy me. That’s what he does best. But no matter how annoying he can be, he still makes my day by making me laugh. And behind that facade of insensitive and arrogant attitude is a soft hearted person, hopeless romantic and intelligent conversationalist. Well, at least for me. Blehhh…

So why am I jealous? I don’t know. Probably because of the many things I have suggested for him to do, it always end up credited to someone else. Or probably I’m always too early to suggest and those other friends are just right on the moment. Or maybe, I’m just plain back to my old sensitive self. Sorry dude, I thought you were right when you said I’ve tamed that sensitive side of me a bit. I guess I did but not with people inside my close circle.
I’m tempted to enumerate those crap but it won’t do good anyways. So as usual, back to my reading time. :)

back from Hiatus

I almost forgot about this blog. That’s because I’ve been absorbed with Facebook mania. I then realized  that FB, though loaded with fancy features and all, still lack something that I get when I blog.
First, I’m a very quiet person. The only moment you’ll hear/read my thoughts is when I’m blogging. So I need a bigger space to write on. Now FB has Notes tab and can be use as a blog space. But what fancies me about blogging is the way I can creatively choose my font and font colors and sizes. That’s what FB Note tabs lack.
Second, FB status is seen even by friends of your friends depending of course on your Privacy settings. Now with blogging, you can either use a cybername or just choose the network who can follow your blog. Well FB is a social network and that means you have to be tolerant of people who post somewhat ridiculously updates or status on their walls. With blogging, you own the whole site and you need not check status of fellow bloggers. With FB, it’s tempting not to.
Third, I love blogging. I remember this used to be a therapy of some sort. Now my main focus is just to share. Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two, who knows? You may pick up a tip or an idea may have been revived or formed by just reading my blogs.
Fourth. When my kids are old enough, I’d like them to read from here what they were like when they were still little and hopefully impart the teachings to their children. And of course, reminisce how it was like to be loved by Mama. :)
Fifth. I own this. It’s my journey. I may grow old and not remember anything. But this blog could take me back to good and old memories. It might just be my own “The Notebook” :) ha ha ha

Trip to Cebu

Late Blog but worth sharing.

If not because of my Bessie’s persistent prodding, I wouldn’t be caught in a far place with a limited budget. And I’m thankful that she was able to find a good promo and booked a free airplane ride back and forth for four. It was a nice Mom & son bonding time.

My son and I were too early at Bessie’s place. I’m still sleepy and tried to catch a little nap there. We left at around 8am and still early for our flight. It was our first plane ride. Inside the airport we went from one lane to another starting from the check in counter up to the main entrance. For security purposes we were asked to remove our jackets and shoes. Good thing the kids need not to do that anymore.

The waiting area of Terminal 3 is spacious and nice. We can clearly see the planes taking off from the runway. And since we were early, we had to wait a little more than an hour before our departure. We spent the time eating and taking pictures.

We were hoping to get 2 window seats but only 1 was given and it was assigned to my kiddo. It was just too dissapointing because we thought Bessie’s son could take the window seat. Unfortunately, the lady who was assigned on that seat refused to give way for the kid stating she requested for that particular number. Oh well, I told Bessie that we can just change seats after but she said it’s okay. Maybe that lady has some sort of travel sickness.

The plane ride was good and Ichiro enjoyed looking at the clouds. It was just an hour of travel so after a while we were already in Cebu. We met with Bessie’s friend who brought us to a restaurant where we met her other friends later on. The food was good but quite expensive. We spent the rest of the day buying some pasalubongs.

We took a taxi going to Thea’s (Bessie’s high school friend) house. It was a long travel maybe a little longer than our plane ride or maybe I’m already too tired to compare. The kids have slept already. We had to passed by Bessie’s other friends, bought some more food and pasalubongs and finally reached the house. After dinner, I’m glad to finally had a chance to rest.

The next day was a busy one. Bessie went to market early but took her 3 hours to come back. I bathe the kids, gave them breakfast and let them play afterwards. We then went to a resort after lunch. I was hoping for a beach but it would be 2 hours travel from our place. Anyways, the resort is not too shabby. It even has it’s own aviary. The price is reasonable for an overnight stay and there are several pools too. We stayed there until 6pm which is quite dark already outside.

We were still able to find an open prayer room in one of the churches there. It was so quiet and if not because of the reason why I was there, I would have been scared to be alone. Along the way, I had a small chat with one of Bessie’s old friends. He’s just funny and mushy at the same time. I’m just not sure which of his stories are true and which are just for fun. :)

The kids are already sleepy when we arrived home. I put them to bed and I wasn’ t able to eat dinner because we were busy packing for our departure the next day. I only took some junk foods and coke. I was hungry but too shy to go out of the room.

The taxi driver fetched us around 4am just enough to drive to airport on time. We ate some donuts for breakfast while waiting for our plane. We didn’t wait long and the travel was less than an hour. I was hesitating to go home directly because first, the taxi fare was ridiculously expensive from the airport. Second, I want to bring home the pasalubongs already because the guys at home were texting me already. Third, I wanted to call in sick for work coz I’m not feeling well.

Well, we decided to drop by Bessie’s house first. We got the kid’s pasalubong and went home shortly after. It was raining in Manila. Good thing the weather back in Cebu even for some scattered rains was still okay during our stay.

It’s nice to be back home. I’ve missed Jiro and he was happy to see me and his Kuya. Everybody was excited to hear about Ichiro’s adventures. Me, I slept and called in sick.
The Cebu trip was fun. I would love to go back when I have enough money to bring everyone.

tarts and pies

Yep, sweettart and yummy pies. We were early this time. I started the session with a gulp of coffee to perk me up. I’m so sleepy. We didn’t get to sleep coz we spent the morning checking out the new condo near our office. Ha! as if we are ready to get one now. Anyways, it’s nice to at least check what’s in store around our workplace.

The chef was the best so far. She mentioned that she loves baking but not as much as culinary arts. I agree that she rarely measure the ingredients which is the basic of baking but she does well though. She is a teacher and our impression is that she is a strict one.  She did everything fast and organized. The recipes are easy to do and the ingredients are basic so I guess I won’t have a hard time trying it at home. I’m not gonna post the recipes, not yet.  I’ll have my kids judge my experiments first, hehe.

So there, I was hoping to get some pics of her but she’s kinda either snob or shy. She’s pretty and I like her. I just don’t wanna conclude afterwards. Oh well, Bessie took a pic anyway.

how perskindol came to be

We were from another school. Meg, Wewe, Soc from Section B while Claire and me from section A. We were all from different group of friends in our old school but fate brought us together. You know, when you decide to take another road and you are alone, tendency is to join forces with people who have decided to take the same road. So there we were- the elite five. We were always together especially in big meetings. Though we have different subjects, we tried to have at least two of us in each class we attend to.  Being the elite that we are, we have gained new friends and some not so friendly ones.

Internship paved the way to a wider group. Wewe became close instantly with sis Joy during their Baguio days. Joy is already friends with Kuya Carlo I think. Wewe also became close to Juju in Clark in August. Then Juju and Joy in Makati. Joy and I became close during our Calamba days. Kuya came from the previous site i’ve been to where i was blindly infatuated with my girl Clinical Supervisor. I don’t know how Juju and I started as friends coz as far as I remember he was the guy from my ortho class who did not give me a paper during our short quiz. What a snob! I’m not sure but I guess we were slowly being introduced to each other during the 2nd sem. That was thesis making time and we decided to name our group Perskindol. Lame, but that was what our thesis was all about.

January was the highlight of our friendship. Our request to be assigned in one province was granted. We lived together in one house for the whole month. We eat together, we delegate tasks like marketing, cleaning, cooking, etc… Funny coz we only did that after some petty misunderstanding. Imagine what chaos it has been. I must say, it was a Full House, literally. Full of drama, fun, action, love, comedy and everything you’d want in a reality tv.

How I miss these guys… no dull moment,  just fun, laughter and fun.

cooking passion

Yesterday was our 2nd time to attend Nestle’s cooking demo. I honestly would like to learn how to bake it’s just that i don’t have an oven. The big oven we have before was left in my dad’s house. Actually, for the love of food i’m willing to learn new stuffs like baking plus with the coming holiday season it could be a good business :)

We were late as usual, but didn’t miss much since the first part was always an easy recipe. We were just right on time for the highlight of the demo which were cookies and bars. The chef was a young female who took up fine arts and has a degree in business but has this love for baking. She said she bakes for loved ones and does not sell her food. My impression was she can be a good teacher coz her willingness to share is overwhelming. She mentioned that she loves baking with her 3y/o niece helping her out. The demo was interactive with the audience being invited to participate in preparing either the layers or the toppings. It was like a “do this, bake and wait while we prepare the other one” which left me a little lost along the discussion plus i’m a little sleepy due to lack of sleep from the previous days. Anyway, all her recipes tastes good specially the Sunburst lemon bars. This time the demo ended a little earlier than the last time with some of the audience already wanting to go home after the food taste. Of course we waited a little bit just to take a pic with the lovely chef.

We went straight to the mall after to buy some drinks and have our usual chika time. Too bad we were not able to connect to chat with Macky. These are the moments where we really missed his company. I hope he goes home on his birthday!

cookies and bars this weekend demo

Lookin’ forward to this cooking demo!

We are all aware that Christmas is near and that means gift giving. And what could be the best give aways for our friends and officemates that are not so cramping on the budget? Food! Not only will it be special because it is home made but it also an opportunity to showcase that cooking talent we don’t realize that we have.

So, see you there on Oct 18, sat. It’s a date! :)

BFF-Partners in crime

yep! that’s what we are :) big grin!

Last Saturday, me and my bessie attended a Nestle cooking demo at Rockwell Makati. We were late but it’s okay since we just missed a little discussion about their featured brand. The demo started with a taste sampling of the Nutren- a milk for people who are on glucose watch. Then we had ice cream which we taught was also Nutren but turned out to be Banofee, yum yum. The banana flavor was undeniable.

The first cook was very entertaining because of his personal statements about himself and his experiences. His life story is inspiring starting from being a kitchen helper to being a chef. I cracked up whenever he drops a little joke out of nowhere or maybe i’m really that sucker for the funny. heh!

Now the next chef looks like a snob from the start but when he started talking i know he’s more likely to be one of us :) big grin!
We enjoyed his cooking session, learned a lot of stuff that i wish stays on my fickle brain, heh! And since we were kinda impressed and enjoyed it i thought that it’s worth blogging. And guess what, FWIW, we took a picture with him, haha True story!

So there, we wre going to make this a monthly thing, since it’s free, educational, plus tons of Fun. Actually, i should have started this long time ago when we had our bonding sessions. Of course this is not the first but i’m gonna start here. Maybe, if i have the time (i wish!) i’ll also blog about our previous adventures or just link some of them from my other blogsites. For now, this is going to be my favorite blogging site.
