Trip to Cebu

Late Blog but worth sharing.

If not because of my Bessie’s persistent prodding, I wouldn’t be caught in a far place with a limited budget. And I’m thankful that she was able to find a good promo and booked a free airplane ride back and forth for four. It was a nice Mom & son bonding time.

My son and I were too early at Bessie’s place. I’m still sleepy and tried to catch a little nap there. We left at around 8am and still early for our flight. It was our first plane ride. Inside the airport we went from one lane to another starting from the check in counter up to the main entrance. For security purposes we were asked to remove our jackets and shoes. Good thing the kids need not to do that anymore.

The waiting area of Terminal 3 is spacious and nice. We can clearly see the planes taking off from the runway. And since we were early, we had to wait a little more than an hour before our departure. We spent the time eating and taking pictures.

We were hoping to get 2 window seats but only 1 was given and it was assigned to my kiddo. It was just too dissapointing because we thought Bessie’s son could take the window seat. Unfortunately, the lady who was assigned on that seat refused to give way for the kid stating she requested for that particular number. Oh well, I told Bessie that we can just change seats after but she said it’s okay. Maybe that lady has some sort of travel sickness.

The plane ride was good and Ichiro enjoyed looking at the clouds. It was just an hour of travel so after a while we were already in Cebu. We met with Bessie’s friend who brought us to a restaurant where we met her other friends later on. The food was good but quite expensive. We spent the rest of the day buying some pasalubongs.

We took a taxi going to Thea’s (Bessie’s high school friend) house. It was a long travel maybe a little longer than our plane ride or maybe I’m already too tired to compare. The kids have slept already. We had to passed by Bessie’s other friends, bought some more food and pasalubongs and finally reached the house. After dinner, I’m glad to finally had a chance to rest.

The next day was a busy one. Bessie went to market early but took her 3 hours to come back. I bathe the kids, gave them breakfast and let them play afterwards. We then went to a resort after lunch. I was hoping for a beach but it would be 2 hours travel from our place. Anyways, the resort is not too shabby. It even has it’s own aviary. The price is reasonable for an overnight stay and there are several pools too. We stayed there until 6pm which is quite dark already outside.

We were still able to find an open prayer room in one of the churches there. It was so quiet and if not because of the reason why I was there, I would have been scared to be alone. Along the way, I had a small chat with one of Bessie’s old friends. He’s just funny and mushy at the same time. I’m just not sure which of his stories are true and which are just for fun. :)

The kids are already sleepy when we arrived home. I put them to bed and I wasn’ t able to eat dinner because we were busy packing for our departure the next day. I only took some junk foods and coke. I was hungry but too shy to go out of the room.

The taxi driver fetched us around 4am just enough to drive to airport on time. We ate some donuts for breakfast while waiting for our plane. We didn’t wait long and the travel was less than an hour. I was hesitating to go home directly because first, the taxi fare was ridiculously expensive from the airport. Second, I want to bring home the pasalubongs already because the guys at home were texting me already. Third, I wanted to call in sick for work coz I’m not feeling well.

Well, we decided to drop by Bessie’s house first. We got the kid’s pasalubong and went home shortly after. It was raining in Manila. Good thing the weather back in Cebu even for some scattered rains was still okay during our stay.

It’s nice to be back home. I’ve missed Jiro and he was happy to see me and his Kuya. Everybody was excited to hear about Ichiro’s adventures. Me, I slept and called in sick.
The Cebu trip was fun. I would love to go back when I have enough money to bring everyone.
